Daniel H. Haines

Daniel H. Haines joined Servier as the Head of US Legal in September 2024.  Before joining Servier, Dan spent a number of years at Sanofi, where he served in a variety of roles of increasing responsibility in the leadership of the legal department.   In his most recent role at Sanofi, Dan was Vice President and Head of Legal, Global Functions, leading a team of 40+ professionals throughout the US, Canada, France, Germany, and Belgium that provided support for Strategy & Business Development, Alliance Management, Digital Initiatives, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and the Chief Medical Officer.

Prior to Sanofi, Dan was a leader in the legal department at biotech Genzyme. While at Genzyme, he served as the senior business lawyer to Genzyme’s Oncology, MS, and Biosurgery businesses representing product lines that generated $1.3B revenue and providing support across the full range of commercial, medical, R&D and BD activities.  

In early career legal roles, Dan served in both corporate and litigation associate roles at the law firms of Hale & Dorr (now WilmerHale) Foley, Hoag & Eliot, and Ropes and Gray. He also served as Law Clerk to the Honorable William G. Young in the United States District Court of Massachusetts.

Prior to law school, Dan served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army, receiving the Bronze Star Medal for exceptionally meritorious service in Saudi Arabia and Iraq during Operation Desert Storm.

Dan earned a Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, at Boston University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations, cum laude, from Boston University.
