At Servier, we’re cultivating a culture that inspires and allows our team members to put their best foot forward every day. This includes, in part, supporting the next generation of leaders and innovators to help them do the same.
Every summer, Servier welcomes a new group of interns to work across its cross functional teams, including Communications, External Manufacturing, Clinical Research, Human Resources and Biostatistics, among others. The program immerses every intern into Servier’s culture and work. Throughout their time at Servier, the interns receive hands-on experience supporting important projects across different areas of our business, providing fresh perspectives to their teams. They also have the opportunity to attend company-wide events, an internship panel, workshops and more.
As our most recent program comes to an end, a few interns shared their personal experiences working at Servier both virtually and in-person at the Boston Seaport offices.
Emma Dougherty, External Manufacturing Intern
Tell us more about your role as an intern.
As an External Manufacturing Intern, I have been working to familiarize myself with the general manufacturing process but also to understand what external manufacturing entails. I am on the ONCASPAR team, so I’ve spent a lot of time learning about its specific manufacturing process. I’ve been attending meetings and assisting with management of project dashboards and trackers in addition to helping to organize and execute some of our in-person events, like the July Face to Face event.
What was the most rewarding part of your experience this summer?
The July Face to Face event was the most rewarding and memorable part of my experience so far. Up until the event, I had met everyone virtually. It was really special to meet everyone in person for the first time and create a stronger relationship with them as we attended team meetings and participated in team bonding events. I loved getting to know everyone on a more personal note, which can be a really challenging aspect of working virtually.
In three words or phrases, how would you describe Servier’s culture and why?
Encouraging, meaningful and fun. Since the first day I came to the office, everyone has been extremely welcoming and made me feel like part of Servier’s community. It’s an environment where I feel recognized and comfortable asking questions, even as an intern. Everyone works extremely hard and is dedicated to their work but still can have fun in the process without losing sight of the company’s mission.
What is something you will take with you from your internship as you progress in your career journey?
The relationships I have made so far. I have met so many people across various departments and roles and every single one of them has been supportive, thoughtful and compassionate. Everyone wants to help and make you feel valued. I think that having this kind of community in your career is hard to find, and so I am very lucky to be a part of it here at Servier.
Kevin Zeng, Marketing Intern
Tell us more about your role as an intern.
I am responsible for designing, creating and maintaining the internal and external SharePoint websites for the Integrating Commercial Excellence (ICE) team here at Servier. I currently work with the Learning & Development, Insights & Analytics, Commercial Ops – Sales Ops and Marketing Operations teams on various projects and events.
What was the most rewarding part of your experience this summer?
The most rewarding part of my experience this summer was getting the chance to meet so many individuals from different backgrounds and learning more about how the team I work with operates.
In three words or phrases, how would you describe Servier’s culture and why?
Driven, collaborative and fun. These words stand out because the people I’ve met at Servier all share the same drive to make the world a better place while taking time to enjoy themselves and get to know one another. The culture is very collaborative as teams work together with each other regularly.
What is something you will take with you from your internship as you progress in your career journey?
The broad network and connections that I’ve made since joining the team. Meeting and getting to know people are great ways to start out anywhere. Saying no to things is ok when something else has a higher priority. Lastly, everyone works in a different style.
