The overall 5 year survival rate for children with Acute Myeloid Leukemia has increased over time and is now in the range of 65% to 70%. However, survival rates my vary depending on the subtype of AML and other factors.

Leukemia is the leading cause of cancer death in both males and females ages 15-29 years old.

Acute Myeloid Leukemia is one of the most common types of leukemia in adults and its incidence significantly increases with age.1,5

The median age of diagnosis is 68 years old.

Survivorship

While AML may be treatable, everyone’s journey may be different. Survivorship in AML begins the day of diagnosis and continues throughout life, even for a patient in remission. It is considered one of the most complex aspects of the cancer experience because it is different for every patient.
